Ok first of all I am a beekeeper. You should absolutely not do that (regarding the pic posted below). It is very bad for the bees.

First people don’t know which kind of sugar to use, also there is two different ratios for sugar syrup. The 1:1 to stimulate wax production and brood (population augmentation) and 2:2 to feed in emergency “if needed”. Feeding like that will hurt the bees, cause that will create a fake nectar flow.

The Problem: Queen will lay a lot too soon and if people stopped to provide the syrup until spring bloom, hives/hive will starve to death or will turn weak and will manage badly pest, mites or diseases.

Let the bees be. They don’t need us, we need them. Spring is on the corner and the freeze will allow seeds to grow and provide even more flowers we never see because we don’t have a real freeze in the south. Bee mindful !
