Herb Terminology: Efflorescence

5/19/2020

Picture
The state or period of flowering. The process of developing and blooming. Bursting forth. It’s also a crystalline deposit of salt that’s left behind once the water has evaporated. I really like this word. I feel like I am going through a period of efflorescence right now. Well, most of the time to be real with you. But, lately I have been struggling with feelings of inadequacy. I’ve been feeling like I’m not doing enough for myself and the people I care about. Not doing enough to get the visions of my future in action. Feeling like I’m boring. Like I’m slacking on my personal health, mentally and physically. And then, I woke up remembering I’m a damn boss. And a goddess. And I’m □. I felt a renewed sense of purpose, even though I understand I already have many things to offer to others. We all struggle sometimes with feeling like we aren’t enough or we should be doing more or we should be further along. But, the truth is, we are right on time. I am blooming. I am bursting forth. I am developing and unfolding. I would never say a flower is blooming too slow or that the flower isn’t right on time. I accept the flower exactly how it is. I’m working on accepting me exactly how I am. #efflorescence #words #definition #knowledge #somuchonmymind #noego #raw #open #content #helpyourself #helpothers #kindness #layitontheline #thosewhomatterdontmind #human #soul #soulhavingahumanexperience #openbook #youdontknowme #imatter #mentalhealth #happiness #sojourn #letmeteachyou #ineedopenness #givewhatyouget #perfectionist #calmdown #selflove #selfhelp

Herb a Day Campaign: Red Root - Jersey Tea | Ceanothus americanus

5/13/2020

Herb a day Campaign : Red Root AKA Jersey Tea. This is one of those herbs that is smart to have in your cabinet. The Native Americans used it for fevers and mucus issues like sore throat and cough. It’s been used extensively for tonsillitis, whooping cough, bronchitis, asthma and most problems of the mucus membranes. The astringent action comes from its 8% tannin content. The tannins wick excess mucus and moisture from the body. It is also used as a wash for sores. Many regular wounds as well as sores from STDs. Native women would rub the wet blossoms on their skins as a wash that would leave them smelling light and floral. It’s astringent properties also help as a mouthwash for gum and tooth health. If the teeth are loose or falling or if there is an unpleasant smell from the mouth gargling with Red Root might do you good. This Jersey tea is in many Lyme disease protocols because it’s ability to flush out the lymphatic system. That system is usually burdened when one has Lyme and being able to move the fluids of the body is important. Sluggish lymph function will get boosted with a steady dose of it. The plant got the name Jersey tea because it was used as the regular drinking tea in America during the time of the Boston Tea Party. No tea from China via England was being delivered so the people relied on this herb as their daily drink. After the American Revolutionary War it was used for a bit but fell out of favor once they were able to procure their Chinese leaves once again. So, the take away with this herb is Respiratory system, Astringent, Wound Healing, Lymphatic. #redroot #jerseytea #ceanothus #respiratory #lymph #wound #herbs #healing #herbalist #askanherbalist #dustigregory #mucus #astringent #bitter #immune #dallasherbalist #masterherbalist #lymphatic #nativeamerican #catarrh #dallaslife #irvingtx #naturalhealing #nature #naturespharmacy #greenhealing #herbalhealing #selfcare #nourish
