Herb a Day Campaign : Butternut | Juglans cinerea

Herb a day Campaign : What, what, in the Butternut!! Good herb for a day like today. Or, any day for that matter. Butternut is also called White Walnut and they do have some of the same qualities, like being a good herb for ridding the body of parasites. It is also astringent so could help with chronic diarrhea. It will help to tighten and dry up tissues if need be. The beauty of herbs is they can do so much for a body.. so Butternut also has the capability to be a laxative in the system if it needs to do so. That’s what I mean by meeting a person where they are in herbalism, we can learn this from this plant in this instance. The body strives for health so when given the right nutrient it will move towards balance.. We take a person from their current state and help them to realize their ability to take themselves to a place of better vitality. The balance of life...It also seems to have the ability to move hepatic congestion. (I told you this one was amazing). This is super important, your liver has 500 functions a day. (Pretty important lil guy if you ask me). If the hepatic system is sluggish, the body might not be performing as smoothly as it should. When you think of the main digestive system being one long tube- from mouth to anus- if we have an area not flowing well we could have the tendency to back up in the way the body functions. So, say the appetite is poor, if we’re able to stimulate the liver, we could possibly aid the body in making more digestive enzymes right? We might also be able to remove trash from the digestive system so everything else flows down at a smoother rate. This herb isn’t a common one but it has such mighty benefits I wanted to tell the world about how good it could do a body! Try it today in a tea with a little Moringa and Ginger. Tell me what you think □ #butternut #masterherbalist #wordadaycamapaign #herbsman! #herbalist #whatwhatinthebutternut #moringa #ginger #naturalista #knowbetterdobetter #dallasherbalist #slanginherbs

Herb a day Campaign : Chickweed | Stellaria media

Herb a day Campaign : Chickweed is our lady of the hour. Such a Beauty with her tiny white flowers. This herb is a friend to those who want to reduce their weight. It works great as an appetite suppressant. It does not have a stimulating effect on the body so it can be used a few times a day without negative effects on the nervous system. A cup of chickweed is perfect when you throw in a pinch of cinnamon. Reminds me of an herbal snickerdoodle. (I’m biased with herbal flavors so I could be wayyy off on this). If you wanted to boost up the energy or fat burning capability adding green tea, guayusa, or Mate’ would be a great addition. Chickweed also helps to rid the body of excess fluid by way of its diuretic effects, thus drinking as a tea can facilitate this process even more. Fluid in, fluid out. Ointments made from chickweed sure come in handy in the summer time when being outside can lead to rashes and bumps and scratches. A lil dab will do ya and the body will react very favorably to using Chickweed externally as well. Try some Chickweed as a sun tea brewed with Hibiscus and Rosehips for a refreshing burst or with Anise and Holy Basil as a soothing tisane. However you use it let me know, I love learning what people do with their herbs □ #chickweed #herbs #tisane #masterherbalist #herbalist #tea #herbaltea #diuretic #appetitesuppressant #naturalista #herbadaycampaign #herbsman! #slanginherbs #teasdoabodygood #knowbetterdobetter #herblover Photo: Dandy Lion Emporium (Dusti Gregory)

Herb a Day Campaign: Damiana | Turnera aphrodisiaca

Herb a day Campaign : Damiana. This. Herb. Tastes. So. Beautiful. Have you ever made a cup of this tea? If so, tell me what you think. It’s aphrodisiac in its nature so it helps to get the love flowing. It also has a delicate relaxing effect on the body. People think that if you are tired you need more energy. More caffeine. More go go go. Maybe what you need is some chill chill chill. Getting the rest we need allows the body to rejuvenate naturally on its own. Give it a try alone or maybe with Chamomile and Blue Vervain to get this effect. We can all stand to loosen up a little bit, I think. Lots of people smoke this herb for its ability to calm and soothe too. If you enjoy smoking, this may be a good way for you to try Damiana. Men with lower than optimal sperm counts might just get a good boost if they used Damiana on the regular. I believe everyone needs to try this herb. If you’ve never been big on teas this one might very well change your mind. Let me know what you think when you do □ #herbadaycampaign #herbalist #masterherbalist #damiana #chamomile #bluevervain #tea #herbaltea #nutritionthroughherbs #herbsman! #slanginherbs #naturalista #herbalism101

Herb a Day Campaign: Alfalfa | Medicago sativa

Herb a day Campaign : In the world of herbs, I think Alfalfa is our iceberg. You see a small delicate plant above the soil but what you don’t see underground is the vast network of roots this plant grows. The roots are said to reach up to 40 feet below the surface to procure their nutrients. And gather nutrients it does do! It has one of the highest sources of chlorophyll in the plant kingdom. Alfalfa contains B12, Vitamin C in large amounts and so much Calcium it’s almost off the charts. The fiber in the plant is insoluble so it can help with bowel regularity. Alfalfa seems to neutralize acids in the system, thereby balancing the Ph. Nourishing the endocrine system isn’t hard for this plant because it contains all the known vitamins and minerals we need in our life. I love it with Mint of your choice and green Yerba Mate’. Enjoy yourself some alfalfa and feel amazing! #alfalfa #herbs #herbalhealing #masterherbalist #tea #cupofgoodness #dallasherbalist #herbsman! #herbadaycampaign #chlorophyll #slanginherbs

Herb a Day Campaign: Catnip | Nepeta cataria

Herb a day Campaign : Catnip. If you don’t talk to your cat about catnip, who will? But seriously, we should have been following their lead on this herb the whole time. It has a soothing effect on our feline friends, just like it does on us. People have reported better sleep, less anxiety and a relief in pain when Catnip was used. Some parents give it to youngsters for colic and gas issues. The herb has a calming effect on the digestive and nervous systems, which a lot of the time, feed off of one another. (Second brain, vagus nerve). I mix mine w chamomile, wild yam, fennel, and slippery elm when the guts are disrupted. It also works wonders for relaxation and pain when coupled with wild lettuce, Passion flower and hops. What an amazing effect. Go grab some catnip.. lil for you, lil for the cat and the whole house is good to go! #catnip #herbadaycampaign #masterherbalist #thecatniptimes #tea #healingbythecup #natures #herbalista #herbsman! #slanginherbs #teasforwellness #dallasherbalist #dfwteaartist
