Harvesting Dandelion.
I found a beautiful patch of Dandelion on my walk last week. 1-This is the pretty patch that I found. It looks strong and healthy and fresh. 2- My Dandelion bouquet. Isn’t she beautiful? I didn’t have a basket or bag with me so I walked home holding it all proud. It’s always a good idea to never take more that 1/3 of the total amount of the patch of plants that’s you’re harvesting. I probably took 1/4 of this little group. We want to make sure the plant has enough left to keep going with no problem. It’s also important to make sure animals that eat the herbs have enough to live on too. 3- I am cleaning and soaking the Dandelion to remove any debris that are caught up in the leaves. I soaked it with a little Apple Cider Vinegar in my water. 4- Here I am making my tincture. Tinctures are amazing because their life in so long. Once the herbs are extracted into the liquid it is usable for years, or as long as you keep it. Depends on what type of fluid you extract into. 5- Look at that tincture! 6- This picture is a few days in when the nutrients are really being incorporated into my liquid. I’ll let this one set up for at least a month. When I get ready to jar it up I’ll show you that too 🙂 Photos: Dandy Lion Emporium (Dusti Gregory) #dandelion #tincture #extract #dandylionemporium #herb #herbs #masterherbalist #natural #alkaline #healing #herbalism #herbalist #irvingtx #dallasherbalist
