![]() Y’all know I had to do this one. Irish moss, Seamoss, no matter what you call it, this herb is a legit powerhouse of nutrition. For reals! It contains 92 of the 102 minerals us humans need to thrive. It also contains high amounts of Calcium, Iodine, Selenium, Zinc and Silica. Let’s keep going because this baby boasts all kinds of Vitamin A,B,C,D,E and K. Truth be told, you can survive on Irish Moss. Another truth is that it’s actually a species of red algae that grows on the rocky Atlantic coasts of Europe and North America. There is a huge color variation in it from a pale, light cream to a dense purple color. The Irish consumed Seamoss during the Potato Famine of 1846-48. It was thought of as a poverty food after the famine so seemed to fall out of grace for a long time in that area. I feel quite a connection to this herb knowing it kept my ancestors alive during a terrible period of starvation. Now fast forward to today, seaweeds and algae are the stuff! I will venture to say that Irish Moss is one of the most used herbs in our herbal world today. We use the herb to Soothe inflammations in the mucus membranes. It helps to rid the body of excess mucus, which is one of the main reasons for its increased popularity (Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Sebi). It’s high silica content Nourishes the skin, hair, teeth, and bones from the inside out. Externally, it can be used to soothe wounds and as a facial mask. This wonder herb also contains a good amount of Iodine. Iodine is very antimicrobial. The entire blood system flows through the thyroid every 18 minutes (where Iodine loves to hang out). This allows the blood to be cleansed of impurities. Iodine also fits into the thyroid, kind of like a puzzle piece, and displaces toxic metals and minerals like mercury and fluoride, as well as others. I seriously could go on and on and if you’re still reading I really appreciate it. This herb has amazing benefits and I think you get the point. I’ll be posting directions on how to make your own Sea moss gel so you can give it a try. Have an amazing day -Dusti □ #herbs #irishmoss #seamoss #herbalist #herbadaycampaign #slanginherbs
